(Mogadishu-Somalia)-The president of the Republic of Somalia H. E Sharif Sh. Ahmed vigorously condemns and expresses grief and sorrow over the senseless murder of the prominent journalist Hassan Osman Abdi (Fantastic). This is a terrible tragedy, both for Hassan’s family and for the journalist community in Somalia. “I would like to extend my heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Hassan Osman” said president Sharif.
“I appeal to the public to assist the appropriate authorities investigating this case and to remain vigilant for those who are obstacle to peace and stability in this country; it has long been the strategy of groups like the Al-Shabab to target public figures in our society with the aim of spreading fear and panic. We will not be intimidated or threatened by such odious acts” said president Sharif Sh. Ahmed.
The government will review security procedures and take all necessary measures to protect its citizens, particularly those who work in the interest of the public.
Finally, the president of the Republic of Somalia H. E Sharif Sh. Ahmed prays Almighty Allah to rest Mr. Osman’s soul in eternal peace and grant courage to the bereaved family to bear the irreparable loss with fortitude.
