MOGADISHU, Somalia June 7 (Garowe Online) - A Somali human rights group has reported that 123 people were killed in a single-day battle in central Somalia, Radio Garowe reports.
Elman human rights group, based in the Somali capital Mogadishu, issued a report on Sunday citing unnamed sources in the central regions.
Mr. Ali "Fadhaa" Sheikh Yasin, the acting chairman of Elman, told reporters that mostly fighters died in the battle between pro-government Ahlu Sunnah Wal Jamee'a militia and Al Shabaab-Hizbul Islam hardliners.
Among the dead were 123 people, including three civilians, the report stated. Most of the dead were fighters as Friday's battle took place in a remote town called Wabho, in the central region of Galgadud.

Independent sources have verified that more than 50 people mostly fighters were killed during the armed clashes.
