Corruptions in Somali’s Ports said Prime Minister


Somali interim prime minister, Abdiwahid Cilmi accuses Somali seaport and airport authorities over misusing government revenues in Somali capital of Mogadishu, Radio Garowe Reports.

Abdiwahid Calmi also known as Gon-jeh said Somali transitional government receives a lot of taxes from Mogadishu’s ports but corruption take part of it. He appealed action will be taken immediately.

“It is bombshell to see Mogadishu’s ports-that is biggest ports in the all country-receiving only $12-million compare to other small ports that collected $30-$50 million per year,” said the new premier.

The prime minister said that the government incomes mostly capital ports revenues are taken by some officials that will be testimonies to anyone who authorizes. Added the Government will fight against corruptions.

“When I saw the tax-payer of seaports, I realize that the is no balancing according to the goods-small goods that are imported or Exported is same as the bulkiest one’s and that is prohibited to the government laws,”

However, Somali seaports authority denies the accusation said that all the revenues go to the central Bank of Somalia urged that they work according to the law.

The accusation was to believe the first one since the former Prime Minister Sharma’ake impeaches the manager of seaports.

The prime minister also accuses Mogadishu airports over poor governor, Corruptions and misusing of government revenues, urged the income goes to some government officials not the government.

According to UN Monitoring Group reported, corruption is rife within Somalia's Transitional Federal Government (TFG), with malpractice reported in most government institutions.
 
Also the group accuses lawmakers selling visas and signing dubious deals, misusing revenues, covering for organised crime and piracy, selling weapons and diverting food aid are just a few of the practices taking place within the national and regional governments.
