Grenade attack injures two Somali MPs

A hand grenade hurled at a hotel in Somalia’s restive capital Mogadishu has seriously injured two Somali lawmakers, eyewitnesses said.

Unknown assailants threw the bomb inside Hotel Muna, near Somalia’s Presidential Palace Villa Somalia, where the members of Somali parliament are staying, according to eyewitnesses.

The injured lawmakers were rushed to hospital and Somali security forces, who reached the scene of the attack minutes later, launched manhunt for the attackers.

No group has so far claimed responsibility.

The attack comes as lawmakers prepare to hold their first parliamentary session on Monday since August when they went for indefinite recess due to the increasing hostility.
