Forces of Somalia’s semi-autonomous state of Puntland staged a military parade in Garowe’s ground 54, located in the outskirts of the capital city on Monday to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Armed Forces Day (April 12).
Puntland Vice President Gen Abdi-samada Ali Shire as well as ministers, lawmakers and military commanders, were present on the occasion
Gen Shire made a speech at the parade, saying the force represent Somalia’s National Force, which has been non-existence for the last two decades due to the civil strife in war-torn country.
Some of the soldiers who were interviewed by Garowe Online reporter said they were happy on the way the current government led by President Abdirahman Mohammed Farole is handling their welfare.
President Farole’s government, which took office more than one year ago, has taken care of the salary and other concerns of the forces to encourage them in defending Puntland.
