Somalia’s Prime Minister Omar Abdirshaid Ali Sharmarke and some of his cabinet ministers faced the Parliamentarians after a motion against them was presented in the house of the parliament, Radio Garowe reports.
Addressing the house on Thursday Sharmarke defended his government over allegations of incompetence.
"There are problems that caused the government not to work probably, It is unfortunate today members of the parliament are bringing motion against the government," said Prime Minister Sharmarke.
"The things that made the government incapable to work are lack of funds, the government troops defected to the insurgents and receiving little support from the international community," added Sharmarke.
He said that his government has made a significant progress in attaining peace and reconciliation, pointing out that the deal with pro-government militia, Ahlu-Sunnah Wal Jamaa was one of the success.
Sharmarke added that with the backing of the Parliament, his government will strive to help elevate the suffering of the country.
290 lawmakers attended the parliamentary session which was presided over by speaker Sharif Hassan Sheikh Aden.
"After looking at the situation the country is in, we decided to withdraw our motion," Said legislator Abdirashid Ali Abdulle, one of the lawmakers who brought the motion against the government.
