Somali forces aided by Kenyan contingent of AMISOM seized Kismayo in Sept. 2012 after expelling Al Shabaab group from the port city. A political process to build ‘Jubaland’ state in southern Somalia has been taking place in neighboring Kenya under the auspices of IGAD regional bloc.
