Somalia: Abdirahman Farole elected as Puntland president

r. Abdirahaman Mohamed "Farole" has been elected as the Regional President of Puntland State of Somalia on January 8, 2009, in the capital city Garowe.
Dr. Farole and Gen. Abdullahi Ilkajir made it to the final round of the election and Farole was elected as President of Puntland by 49 MPs in the 66-seat Puntland Parliament.
It was a historic democratic election in Puntland, making Dr. Farole the region's fourth president since 1998.
