Somalia: Community leader killed in Galkayo

GALKAYO, Somalia Feb 6 2012 (Garowe Online) – Armed men approached Abdirahman Mohamed Abdulle on Sunday evening and opened fire on him killing him instantly, Radio Garowe reports.
Shortly after Isha prayers a group of armed men opened fire on Mr. Abdulle near the area of Galcom in northern Galkayo and then escaped.
Local authorities arrived on the scene minutes after Mr. Abdulle was killed; the authorities stated that they did not have any suspects or any leads in the shooting at this time in the investigation.
Mr. Abdulle was very proactive in his community and was head of Israa community which is a district in Galkayo.
Mr. Abdulle assumed the position after the previous leader Ahmed Osman Gataah was gunned down by a group of armed gunmen in Galkayo August of last year.
