A/A, July 3, 2008 (Mogadishu ) - The
Ethiopian army in Somalia collaborated with the army of the
Transitional Federal Government of Somalia in a military mission that
crushed 71 terrorists of Union of Islamic Council and Al Shebab, 13 of
them members of leadership.
The army spokesperson reported
from the spot that the joint military mission was launched on June 29
to destroy the terrorist operatives in Meteban and Gura'el areas, the
spokesperson told ENA.
The terrorist operatives had
arrived at those areas in their plan to launch large-scale offensives,
the spokesperson said. The Ethiopian and Somalian joint military
mission, however, destroyed the terrorists and their weaponry.
In
the mission, 71 terrorists were killed including a Canadian whose name
is in international terrorists' list, the spokesperson said, adding the
rest run away in disarray.
Numerous artillery were captured from the operatives and their patrol vehicle burnt, the spokesperson said.
