Somalia: Four people killed in Mogadishu attacks

MOGADISHU, Somalia Nov 15 (Garowe Online) - At least four people including one government soldier were killed Saturday in Somalia's violent capital Mogadishu, Radio Garowe reported.

The fighting started in Mogadishu's Yaaqshiid district after government troops on street patrol were attacked by suspected insurgents, witnesses said.

Government soldiers killed two of the attackers, while the insurgents killed a member of the government's security forces.

A civilian bystander was killed in the crossfire, according to witnesses.

Two wounded soldiers were transported for to a military hospital for treatment after the insurgents fled away.

A bloody insurgency continues in Somalia despite the signing of a UN-endorsed peace deal last month.

Islamist hardliners like al Shabaab, which the U.S. government considers a terrorist group, have refused to accept the peace agreement, which calls for a ceasefire and the withdrawal of Ethiopian armed forces.
