Somalia: Gunmen wage night-time attack on Mogadishu police station

MOGADISHU, Somalia Feb 3 2013 (Garowe Online) – Gunmen waged a night-time attack using grenades on a police station in Mogadishu injuring 3, Garowe Online reports.

According to local sources, the unidentified men sped off in a vehicle after launching grenades at a police station in Mogadishu.

Two police officers and 1 civilian were injured in the brazen attack on Friday.

Mogadishu authorities gave a press statement on Saturday stating that they were conducting a thorough investigation of the night-time attack.

The authorities refrained from stating whether or not the attack was carried out by Al Shabaab cells operating in Mogadishu.

Attacks in the war-torn capital of decreased as of late, however security sources who spoke to GO said that there is still an Al Shabaab presence in the capital.
