KISMAYO, Somalia Sep 7 (Garowe Online) - A key figure in Somalia's Islamic Courts movement has rejected an announcement made on Friday appointing an administration for the southern port city of Kismayo. [ Full story]

Sheikh Ibrahim Shukri "Abu Seynab," the Islamic Courts' head of political affairs in the Jubba regions, told Radio Garowe on Sunday that the new Kismayo administration was "not inclusive."

"We believe that the administration should include the local clans," Abu Seynab said, while underscoring that the new administration is "composed of al Shabaab and some former members of the Islamic Courts."

Under the new, seven-member administration, al Shabaab and the Islamic Courts retained three seats each while local clans who helped liberate Kismayo were awarded one seat.

Meanwhile, the security situation in Kismayo remains calm after years of clan militia violence.
