A lawmaker in Somalia's interim government held a press conference Sunday in the southwestern town of Baidoa, where he condemned the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) for allegedly committing "a massacre" against Mogadishu's civilian population.

A lawmaker in Somalia's interim government held a press conference Sunday in the southwestern town of Baidoa, where he condemned the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) for allegedly committing "a massacre" against Mogadishu's civilian population.
MP Hersi Aden Roble said AMISOM peacekeepers are responsible for shelling the capital's Bakara Market.
"African Union troops have been shelling Bakara since September 22 and it is a massacre against Mogadishu civilians," MP Roble said.
Major Bahoku Barigye, the AMISOM spokesman, denied media reports that AU peacekeepers were behind explosions at Bakara Market that killed at least 10 people yesterday. [
