BAIDOA, Somalia Nov 12 (Garowe Online) -
Suspected insurgents shot and killed a senior Somali military official in the south-central town of Baidoa, Radio Garowe reported.
Col. Abdullahi "Karakatey" Ibrahim was quickly transported to Baidoa general hospital after sustaining gunshot wounds to the head and abdomen, but doctors later pronounced him dead at the hospital.
Witness Qadijo Adan said a group of young men walked up to the victim and "shot him several times" before escaping on foot. The military official was walking alone when he was targeted, she added.
Baidoa police official Col. Adan Biid told reporters that security forces had captured Col. Karakatey's killers.
"Police have captured the killers…also, we captured those who attacked the home of lawmaker Yusuf Mohamed Khayre," Col. Biid said.
