GAROWE, Somalia Aug 22 2012 (Garowe Online) – A militia group
linked to Khatumo arrived in Garowe announcing their defection to Puntland
state after being unsatisfied with the leadership, Garowe Online reports.
Puntland Vice Minister of Finance Abdi Ibrahim Warsame held
a press conference in Garowe after the militia arrived and stated that the
militia had defected from Puntland state originally but became dissatisfied with
the leadership of Khatumo.
Police officials Col. Mohamed Saeed Janaqaf and Chief of
Puntland Investigation Department Abdifatah Ameey were also at the press
conference.
The militia’s leader Lieutenant Mohamed Ali Afgaab gave a
few comments to press when he and his militia gave a few comments about why his
militia defected from Khatumo.
“We felt that a few people with their own agenda have
hijacked the leadership of Khatumo and brought deceitfulness to the process,”
said Lt. Afgaab.
Poet Abdullahi Mohamed Jibril requested that fellow Puntland
residents welcome the militia reminding Puntland citizens that we are all
brothers.
