Civilians in the capital of Somalia on Thursday protested against the blasts that killed two women who were cleaning Mogadishu streets on Wednesday, Radio Garowe reports.
The women were cleaning the main roads of Boondheere district in Mogadishu, a number of them were critically injured. Mogadishu mayor and other officials from the civil society attended the demonstration that took a place in Hamar-wayne district. Women of Banadir region organised the protest.
Governor of Mogadishu, Mohamed Ahmed [Tarsan] who was addressing the protesters said the people who were behind the explosion were against peace and stability in Somalia.
"It’s something worse to blow up people cleaning the city, we are strongly condemning the people behind that blast," said Tarsan.
He adds that the will meet the law everyone who took part of that explosion.
Sahro, one of the women who attended the demonstration said that she was very bad about what happened to the cleaners.
At least two women have been killed in yesterday’s blast and more than 10 others were injured.
Somali government accused Al-Shabab militias for the blast. However, the group has not commented about the blast.
The women who attended the meeting said they will continue their work and the blasts will not discourage them.
