Abwan Warsame Shire Awale and a female civilian were gunned down by masked gunmen
Monday night in the war-torn capital of Mogadishu, Garowe Online reports.
Mr. Awale was shot and killed near his home in the Hamar
Jadiid neighborhood located in the Waberi district.
Mr. Awale who was working with a radio station in Mogadishu told people
close to him that he received many death threats over the past year.
Abwan Gure, Head of Radio Kulmiye based in Mogadishu said that Mr. Awale was pronounced
dead on the scene.
“Men who were wearing masks shot the poet killing him
instantly,” said Mr. Gure.
A former Al Shabaab defector Luul Ali Sabriye was shot and
killed in a neighborhood in Wardiigley district by a lone gunman.
According to sources, Luul defected to the Somali government
months ago and received many death threats during that time.
Also on Tuesday in Mogadishu,
a Somali government soldier opened fired on a bus after he and a civilian on
board the bus disputed for some time, according to local sources.
One person was killed and two were injured and rushed to
Madina hospital.
At least 4 people were killed in the past two days in Mogadishu.
