Somalia: President Farole inaugurates new presidential palace

GAROWE, Somalia Apr 16 2013 (Garowe Online) – Puntland President Abdirahman Mohamed Farole inaugurated the new presidential palace in a publicized affair on Monday, Garowe Online reports.

President Faorle, Vice President Abdisamad Ali Shire, Ministers, MPs, UN officials, Security officials, traditional elders, women groups and special guests were in attendance at Monday’s affair to inaugurate the new presidential palace.

Monday’s event included a live band and speeches from officials including President Farole.

President Farole gave a lengthy speech on Monday discussing the democratization process, development in Puntland including the construction of Bossaso and Garowe airports, Jubaland state process and accomplishments of President Farole administration.

President Farole urged citizens and political party leaders to forward progress in the democratization process.

The Puntland leader also spoke of the Jubaland state process in which he hoped that the three regions would establish a federal state.

“We encouraging the Jubaland state process and are hoping that the constituents of those regions build their own federal state in peace and become a federal state under the banner of the Somali Federal Government,” said President Farole.  

The two story building had been under construction for over the past year. Government officials are slated to move into the building in the coming weeks.
