Somalia: President Hassan and President Silanyo meet in Turkey

MOGADISHU, Somalia Apr 13 2013 (Garowe Online) - President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and Somaliland President Ahmed Mohamed Silanyo have been meeting in Ankara, Turkey to discuss concerns after President Silanyo refused to attend the Somalia conference in London, Garowe Online reports.

Reportedly, Turkey has organized the meeting between the two heads in Ankara on Saturday. According to sources, the two will discuss security cooperation and development aid.

The two heads are discussing how to battle terrorism and piracy jointly. Recently the Somaliland government has made arrests of Al Shabaab agents operating in Somaliland.

At the Ankara meeting the Somaliland government brought up the issue of receiving its fair allocation of donor aid to Somalia.

The breakaway region claimed independence from Somalia shortly after the civil war.

The two officials are set to sign an agreement after the meeting on Saturday.
