Kuwait City, Kuwait Dec, 5 2011(Garowe Online) -
Prime Minister of Somalia Professor Abdiweli Mohamed Ali stated he is ready for peace talks with Al-shabab, Radio Garowe reports.
The prime minister who is currently visiting Kuwait to strengthen ties between both countries has mentioned the constant problems the Transitional Federal Government are having with Al-shabab.
He was reported saying that “Somalia has been in civil war for over 20 years, and there is no solution in war but the only solution is peace and dialogue.”
The prime minister spoke to Al-Jazeera and mentioned that the Transitional Federal Government (TFG) has realized that there will be no solution with on-going fighting.
He also said that, “Al-shabab needs to put down their arms and come to the table and discuss what the troubles at hand are.”
Al-shabab has been continuing their attack on AMISOM, Kenyan, TFG troops, and target assassinations in Puntland.
Despite Al-shabab’s résumé as a terrorist organization the Prime Minister of Somalia is ready to have peaceful discussions.
Al-shabab has not yet responded to the Prime Minister’s statement.
