Somalia: TFP lawmakers attend Puntland government meeting

Several Somali lawmakers serving the Transitional federal parliament on Monday attended the weekly Puntland government meeting in the administrative capital of Garowe.
The meeting, which was chaired by President Abdirahman Mohammed Farole, occasioned the swearing of assistant ministers recently appointed to various portfolios last week.
In his speech, President Farole stated that it is the fisrt time for Somali MPs serving the TFP to attend Puntland government, terming it a productive gesture.
He said the lawmakers, who were on attendance, are representatives of Puntland people in the bloated federal government in Mogadishu, which was officially formed in 2004 but readjusted in 2009 in Djibouti.
President Farole acknowledged the fact that Puntland maintains to be in a Federal Somalia but lamented about the poor cooperation between the two governments.
On their part, the MPs led by Hassan Abshir Farah said they are ready to work on how to strengthen and better the relation between Garowe and Mogadishu.
The Lawmakers numbering ten said they are ready to be part of the solution to the disagreement between Puntland and Somali government, adding that they have the backing of the UN special envoy to Somalia and the American Embassy in Nairobi.
The meeting concluded in a goods note with both sides maintaining to keep the pledges and continue their good working relation.
