African Union peacekeepers in Somalia (AMISOM) has warned of new attacks scheduled by the insurgents in Somalia capital Mogadishu, Radio Garowe reports.
"We got credible information that the insurgents planned new attacks at our bases in Mogadishu, and we are ready to defend any attacks from them," said AMISOM spokesperson Maj. Behuko Barighye on Saturday.
Behuko claimed that their troops are in high alert and ready to defend the government and their bases.
"Hizbul Islam and Al-Shabaab are preparing new forces in the districts under their control for new attacks with Somali government troops and AMISOM," said the spokesperson.
The Islamists urged that they will redouble their war against Somali government and AMISOM troops which is so interesting 4 us, Maj. Behuko, said.
"AMISOM has the power to defend any attacks from the armed militias and we are informing to the civilians to leave the areas under fighting as soon as possible," added AMISOM spokesperson.
Somali insurgents have vowed to intensify their attacks against Somali government and AMISOM during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.
