Somalia:Iranian Minister willing to hold Somalia conference

ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia Jan 30 2012 (GAROWE ONLINE) – Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi stated that Iran in the upcoming future is ready to hold meetings to try to resolve Somalia’s issues, Radio Garowe reports.
Mr. Salehi who spoke at the African Union Summit in Addis Ababa stated that Iran is willing to host meetings to assist Somalia in resolving current issues.
Mr. Salehi, who after meeting IGAD’s Executive Secretary Mahboub Maalim stated that his government will host a Somalia conference in order to achieve tangible results that change Somalia for the better.
Mr. Maalim welcomed Iran’s efforts to facilitate meetings that could possibly end the transitional phase that Somalia’s government has struggled to overcome.
The Transitional Federal Government (TFG) President Sharif Sheikh Ahmed thanked the Iranian government for Iran’s assistance in providing aid in the drought stricken provinces of Somalia.
