BOSSASO, Somalia-A Turkish aid ship with 3,500 tons of supplies including rice and sugar has docked at Bossaso port on Thursday, Garowe Online reports.

The contents of aid—meant for Puntland, Galmudug and flood-hit Hiran—are being unloaded, said Puntland Ports, Marine Transport and Counter Piracy Minister Abdullahi Jama Salah.

Of the 3500, 1800 tons will be transported to central Galmudug and Hiran region hit by severe flooding last month.

Representatives from Galmudug and Hiran regional administration are said to be in Bossaso to receive the aid.

Turkey sent a ship carrying 11,000 tons of aid to Somalia in May.

According to state-run Anadolu Agency, Turkish government and relief groups delivered USD 500 million worth of aid to conflict-wracked Somalia.
