Somali delegation is in Rwanda
KIGALI: Somali delegation from the Ministry of Planning, Investment and Economic Development’s Investment Promotion Office (SOMINVEST) led by Director Mohamed Dubo is in Kigali, Rwanda.
The Somali delegation will have bilateral meetings with various Rwandan officials including; officials from the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning of Rwanda; the leadership of the Rwanda Development Board); and officials from the National Industrial Research and Development Agency—NIRDA).
During the visit, the delegation is expected to exchange contemporary investment promotion approaches and concepts with the host counterparts in order to advance a collaborative framework between the Somalia investment promotion mandated institutions and their Rwandan counterparts that will ultimately facilitate reciprocal investments from both territories.
The Somali delegation will also tour the Kigali Special Economic Zone in order to receive first-hand experience of the role of SEZs in the promotion and facilitation of both foreign direct investments (FDI) and diaspora investments.
Similarly, the Somali delegation is keen to engage the National Industrial Research and Development Agency—NIRDA) to have clarity on the role of NIRDA in boosting the industry's development and Investment in Rwanda that can be replicated in Somalia.
The delegation will have meetings with the Somali business community in Rwanda in order to ascertain the investment opportunities offered by the Rwandan market as well as the challenges and collectively find solutions.
Rwanda has made remarkable progress in FDI promotion, facilitation, and retention in the past few years owing to the formulation of effective policies, legislations as well as institutions to spearhead the same.
