Somalia: First Art Fair in Puntland spurs on fresh hope

GAROWE, Somalia, November 15, 2015 (Garowe Online)-Somalia’s northeastern state of Puntland for the first time hosted a colorful event recognizing the artwork and love for shooting by young photographers.

Puntland Art Fair, the first of its kind to be held at gallery in the capital, Garowe as pilot revue attracted government officials, media professionals, representatives from international agencies and civil society activists.

Photographers-Mohamed Dahir Aynsane, Mohamed Salad Haji and Ali Abdi Du’alle--and talented female artist, Leila Abdullahi Ali Hiis put panoramic shots of jocular scenes, landscape nature and artistic grandeur as part of evening revue.

Balqiza Abdirizak Abshir who staged the fair said, the event aims for professional photographers and famed artists to share their brilliance with fans keen on one-on-one eye candies.

Hiis expressed her pleasure with first-ever Puntland Art Fair, saying the fair spurs on fresh hopes for youths having passion for artistic corner and photography.

Media Association of Puntland (MAP) chairman, Faisal Khalif Barre praised organizers and wished that such art fairs would loom larger over Somalia.

Puntland Women Development and Family Affairs Minister, Anisa Abdulkadir Haji Mumin on her side called the art fair ‘delightful’.

Mumin encouraged organizers to inject further impetuses into such crucial events, and support photographic and artistic traditions in the years ahead.

On behalf of awardees, photographer, Mohamed Dahir Aynsane stressed that as young professionals they will forever remain committed to showcasing beauty and unique side of motherland, Somalia.
