GAROWE, Puntland - The Ministry of Security of Somalia's northeastern semi-autonomous region of Puntland has on Saturday banned the hotels from anti-government meetings, Garowe Online reports.

A letter dated Sep.9, 2017, released by the Minister of Security and attached to the Presidency warned the hotels against hosting all conferences, aimed at criticizing the current government over its faults.

The Security Minister, Ahmed Abdullahi Yusuf has instructed the state Security agencies, the governors of regional and district administrations in Puntland to put the new order into practice immediately.

Yusuf added that Police ready to prosecute 'anybody who breaks the order' in effort to stop the anti-government gatherings at the privately owned hotels and other public places across Puntland.

"After having seen the increase of the secret meetings against the peace and stability of Puntland, we issued a new order barring conferences aimed at disturbing the region's security," read the statement.

This comes amid meetings in the major cities of Puntland against the weak policy that President Abdiweli Mohamed Ali "Gaas" is leading Puntland.

The people of Puntland have been complaining about Currency crises, hyperinflation, growing insecurity, and widespread corruption in President Ali's government institutions and the top leadership.
