Somalia: Man kills father in knife attack in Bosaso city

BOSASO, Somalia — A man has allegedly stabbed and killed his father, a former Puntland lawmaker, in a shocking incident in the Al-Aqsa neighbourhood of the coastal Bosaso city, local sources said.

The suspect, identified as Mohamed Yusuf, is accused of killing his father, the late Yusuf Bootaan, who previously served as a member of the Puntland regional parliament, according to reports.

Local sources said the incident occurred in the Al-Aqsa area, describing it as a deeply disturbing case that has shocked residents.

Some reports suggest the suspect may have been suffering from mental illness, although this has not been officially confirmed by authorities.

Puntland Security forces have since arrested the suspect and launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the killing.

Officials have not yet released an official statement on the motive behind the murder.
