Somalia: Puntland President returns home from int’l summits

GAROWE, Somalia Nov 2, 2014 (Garowe Online)-The President of Somalia’s Puntland Government Dr. Abdiweli Mohamed Ali Gaas has come back to Puntland capital of Garowe after a week-long visit to London and Dubai on Sunday, Garowe Online reports. 

Speaking at a press conference at Puntland State House, President Ali said that he attended Global African Investment Summit in London, and subsequently 4th counter piracy conference in Dubai.

On the political infighting between Federal Government of Somalia’s leaders, Puntland leader revealed that the dispute could affect bilateral cooperation: “The root cause of the political dispute isn’t visible but I hope, the infighting wouldn’t safeguard the national interests”.

Ali stressed the need for Constitutional solutions to Mogadishu bickering. 

President Mohamud has been at odds with Prime Minister over cabinet reshuffle, protesting the removal of his right hand man from key post. 

Puntland Vice President Abdihakin Abdullahi Haji Omar, Army Commander-in-Chief Gen. Saed Mohamed Hirsi (SaedDheere), cabinet ministers, parliamentarians and flag-waving residents welcomed Ali at Garowe International airport where he inspected guard of honor by Defence Force division.
