Somalia: Puntland seeks Ethiopia support in capacitating civil service

ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia-Puntland delegation is visiting Ethiopia to sign cooperation agreement with key institutions in a bid to boost public sector, Garowe Online reports. 

Led by Minister of Labour, Youth and Sports Abdirahman Sheikh Ahmed, the delegation has toured Civil Service University’s main campus in the capital, Addis Ababa, where they have had a roundtable gathering with administration and academic staffers afterwards.  

Ethiopian Civil Service University President Fekadu Beyene received Puntland officials at his office for further discussion.

Academics shared Ethiopian experience and possible areas of mutual cooperation and understanding in presentation slides with visiting Somali bureaucrats. 

Puntland State University (PSU) and Ethiopian Civil Service University (ECSU) on their side agreed to roll out plans for collaboration in the near future.  

ECSU provided dozens of students from Puntland with scholarships for the last two years.  Puntland delegation had already visited Kenya and Tanzania in their East Africa itinerary.
