Reliable sources confirmed to GO that at least 4 mortars landed in residential areas close to the heavily fortified Presidential palace, but so far there is no clear information on the casualties of the attacks.

Somali government troops along with AMISOM troops were subsequently deployed in the areas and roads near the Presidential palace.

That attack occurred while leaders from the Somali Federal Government and regional administrations attending the National Leaders Forum Conference on Somali election that started Tuesday.

No group claimed responsibility for the attacks but Al Shabaab militant group had carried out similar attacks on the Presidential palace in the past.
