Somalia: Car bomb hits Mogadishu restaurant, 6 killed

MOGADISHU, Somalia-A car packed full of explosives has rammed into a busy restaurant in Mogadishu’s Shibis district according to witnesses, Garowe Online reports. 

Initial reports indicate that six people were killed in the restaurant bombing, and many more wounded. 

The targeted restaurant lies some a few kilometers away from the headquarters of Somali National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA). 

“I have become shocked at thunderous blast and plumes of black smoke were rising over restaurant. The explosion was caused by a bomb-laden car,” an eyewitness told GO. 

Security forces and ambulances have rushed to the scene of car bomb attack shortly.

Al Shabaab has previously claimed responsibility for a series of suicide bombings and targeted assassinations largely in Mogadishu.
