MOGADISHU, Somalia-Federal Government of Somalia’s (FGS) President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has expressed his sympathy to Turkish leaders and people over a terrorist attack at Istanbul’s biggest airport, Ataturk.

Mohamud called Ataturk airport attack “atrocious” one that was aimed at harming innocents during the holy of Ramadan.

“On behalf of the people of Somalia. I send my heartfelt condolences to Turkish leadership and families of Istanbul attack victims. I also wish those wounded a swift recovery,” Somali president said in a statement from his office.

Turkish officials said, the so-called Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) could be likely culpable for the terrorist attack in which 41 people were killed and dozens more wounded according to Istanbul governor.

Turkey is a key humanitarian partner for Somalia, and recently inaugurated its largest diplomatic complex in the world in Mogadishu.
