Somalia: Double car bomb attack kills 15 in Mogadishu

MOGADISHU, Somalia-At least 15 people including five attackers have been killed after militants tried to plow into CID Headquarters in Mogadishu on Sunday, Garowe Online reports. 

National Security Ministry said in statement that security forces manning a checkpoint near the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) complex have not sustained any casualties in the deadly assault.  

Two car bombs went off, followed by gun-battle that left five Al Shabaab gunmen dead according to police.  

Death could rise since bombers ripped through a busy junction, said correspondents in Mogadishu.  

Al Shabaab group as has been case claimed responsibility for the double suicide attack right away.  

The CID headquarters is situated between KM4 and KM5, vis-à-vis Sahafi hotel where Al Shabaab targeted with suicide bombing before.  

The attack marks the second launched by the Somali militant group in a week amid preparations for 2016 presidential vote.
