MOGADISHU, Somalia - The Somalia military court has on Monday executed two Al-Shabab militants for being involved in bomb blasts and shootings which claimed the lives of dozens of people, Garowe Onlne reports.

Mumin Hussein, the deputy of the court prosecutor confirmed the execution of Anshur Osman Abukar, 23 & Mohamed Aden Borrow, 25, saying both were convicted of terror attacks in the city in 2017-2018.

“The court convicted the two terrorists for their role in masterminding several blasts in Mogadishu, including the deadly blast at Sahafi hotel in Sept 2018 which killed 30 people,” said the prosecutor.

He added that the militants were also responsible for two car bombs exploded at a checkpoint near the national theatre and Daljirka Daahsoon in the city center that killed 27 people on 22nd December 2018.

The court said Burrow was assigned by his group to explore where to carry out car bomb attacks.

The militants have been blindfolded and tied to wooden posts at General Kahiye Police Academy in apparent fear as the firing squad marched in and they executed them with the presence of court officials.

The execution comes barely two weeks after suicide female bomber carried out a massive explosion in the Mogadishu municipality, killing at least 10 people, including the city’s mayor, Abdirahman Yarisow.
