ADADO, Somalia, July 2, 2015 (Garowe Online)-A front-runner in Galmudug presidential elections and Somali ambassador to Ethiopia Ahmed Abdisalan Haji Adan has accused the Federal Government of meddling in the process and blocking his campaign on Tuesday, Garowe Online reports.

In a statement released to the media, Adan complained of the government’s systemic manipulation, saying the stranding of his presidential campaign staff member Mohamed Dahir Gulled was the latest in moves to pose challenges to his lobbying for president.

“Mohamed Dahir is a member of my presidential campaign team, yesterday the intelligence refused him to make a take-off from Mogadishu airport, and he was informed not to jet off to Adado without a reason other than working on my campaign,” said Galmudug presidential election candidate.

He added that the government is holding his media unit head Ali Yare Ali for two weeks.

On Wednesday, paramilitary group and Himan and Heeb administration elected Ahlu Sunna Wal Jamea chairman Mohamed Shakir Ali Hassan as a president in a parallel gathering in Dhusamareb.

Adan will compete against former National Security Minister Abdikarin Hussein Gulled, former Intelligence Chief Ahmed Moallim Fiqi and former warlord Abdi Hassan Awale (Qaybdiid) in Saturday’s vote.
