Somalia: Federal MP wounded in drive-by shooting as 3 others killed

MOGADISHU, Somalia Dec 4, 2014 (Garowe Online)-Unidentified gunmen wounded Federal Member of Parliament Mayow Mustaf in drive-by shooting in Mogadishu’s Hamar Weyne district according to officials on Thursday, Garowe Online reports.

Hamar Weyne Commissioner Abdulkadir Mohamed Abdulkadir told reporters that attackers in a car sprayed four people including the wounded MP with bullets, and immediately sped-off from the scene of the crime.

“Shortly after the shooting, we spotted four people, one of them was Federal MP who has been rushed to the hospital for treatment,” said Abdulkadir.

Among those killed in the drive-by attack is former parliamentarian Liban Abdulahi Nur, sources revealed.

Security forces are said to have trailed the gunmen in car but no further details have been released to the media as of yet.

Beleaguered Al Shabaab group continues to carry out planned assassinations, military style ambushes and suicide bombings in volatile Mogadishu.

On Wednesday, suicide bomber targeted UN convoy on a road leading to an entrance to Adan Ade International airport, killing four.
