MOGADISHU, Somalia-Unidentified assailants in car opened fire, killing a bodyguard and driver and wounding Federal Member of Parliament Mohamed Ali Daheye, Garowe Online reports.

The deadly shooting incident occurred in Mogadishu’s Hamar Weyne district, witnesses and security officials confirmed.

The lawmaker who sustained minor injuries is being treated at Mogadishu hospital. A spokesman for Banadir regional administration Abdifatah Omar Halane said, the deadly attack is similar to recent Al Shabaab rampages in Mogadishu.

Daheye replaced slain predecessor MP Abdullahi Qayad Bare. Nobody immediately claimed responsibility for the gun-attack, though as has been the case, Al Shabaab is infamous for targeted assassinations.
