MOGADISHU, Somalia - Wadajir Party Leader Abdirahman Abdishakur has accused the Federal Government of Somalia of failing to bring together country’s stakeholders to reach a consensus on security, model of the next elections and finalizing of the long-running constitutional review process, Garowe Online reports.

Abdishakur said the time has come to declare and take firm action against the spoilers in the FGS misusing their power to disrupt the peace and state-building process in Somalia, a nation that was beset by decades of conflict.

The opposition political party leader has called on the international partners and the United Nations Security Council to attentively consider their decision towards Somalia.

Abdishakur’s comments came after the partners called for an urgency of full cooperation between the FGS and the Federal Member States in order to hold elections on time and achieve national priorities.

The FGS has recently dispatched a large number of Turkish-trained combat troops to Gedo in an attempt to violently seize control of the entire region from Jubbaland State amid a political standoff between the two sides.

The deployment of the troops that drew condemnations from local residents, Puntland and the Unites States [U.S.] has created tension between Jubaland and FGS forces in Bula Hawo and Dolow on the Somali border with Kenya.

Abdirahman Abdishakur has blamed the FGS leaders for neglecting the armed forces and making them easy prey for Al-Shabaab militants and using them to invade stable territory under the Somali Federal States.

The current leaders at Villa Somalia whose 4-year term expires by the end of this year have been accused of failing to deliver on all their promises the made during the election campaign in 2016.
