Somalia: Former Garowe Online journalist celebrates 1 million followers on Facebook

BERLIN, Germany -  Shiine Ulay, former Garowe Media journalist is a proud man today after his personal Facebook Page hit 1 million followers.
He has worked for Garowe Online -Puntland leading media platform.

Ulay honed his skills at Garowe Online, reporting on various topical issues ranging from human rights to governance in Somalia and the entire Horn of Africa before relocating to Germany with his family.

He posted a grateful message to all Somalis, saying "Thank God, after a long journey, I am happy that today my Facebook page has reached 1M followers; without you, I would not have become famous, I would not have reached this point, thank you very much to all of you."

He further added that: "I don't need a few words of gratitude. If we were together, I would have bought many camels for you.”

Ulay is a sign of hope to most journalists especially those operating in Somalia, where they are targets for the Al-Shabaab and threats to the poor regime.

“Thank you, Somalis all" he posted.

Apart from being a member of the fourth estate, Ulay is a comedian and comments on current events related to Somalia's political issues.

During his stay in Somalia, especially in Puntland, He was one of the leading journalists working for the only independent and non-biased media outlets in Somalia - Garowe Online.

He is now a social media celebrity who lives in Germany with his family. Shine Ulay has acquired fame and notability through the Internet. He is a prominent Youtuber.
