BELEDWEYNE, Somalia, December 21, 2015 (Garowe Online)-Federal Government of Somalia’s President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has named new Governor for central Hiran region on Monday, Garowe Online reports.

In a presidential decree released to media, Yusuf Ahmed Hagar Dabageed will be replacing his predecessor Abdifatah Hassan Afrah.

Afrah was implicated in the killing of official working for United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS).

Dabageed has been in political recess since 2007 when transitional President Abdullahi Yusuf Ahmed sacked the Hiran strongman politician.

Somali National Army (SNA) alongside African Union peacekeepers cleansed a string of strategic villages in central Somalia of Al Shabaab militants.
