Somalia: Int'l partners welcome ongoing dialogue in Galmudug state

MOGADISHU, Somalia - The International community has welcomed the ongoing efforts by Somali Government aimed at unifying Galmudug state which has been beset by internal divisions and political turmoil for years, Garowe Online reports.

In a joint statement, Belgium, Denmark, Ethiopia, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, The Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, United Kingdom, US, AMISOM, EU, IGAD, and the UN, as major international partners of Somalia, commended the process as a move forward. 

They said that the ongoing dialogue in Galmudug will unite the regional state, promote stability and bring parties together for the benefit of its people and the whole of Somalia.

"We encourage all stakeholders to continue these endeavors and to take forward broad-based and inclusive reconciliation, leading to the transparent and fair selection of a new Parliament and President, free from violence," read the statement.

It added: "We reaffirm our support for Somalia".
