Somalia: Kenya transfers Somali citizens to Jubaland administration

DOBLEY, Somalia- Kenyan government was reported to transfer 47 Somali citizens including women and children to Jubaland officials in Dobley on Saturday, Garowe Online reports.
Speaking to the local media, Police commander of Dobley District, Haybe Ahmed, said that they received calls from Kenyan government earlier about stranded Somali citizens in their country who were smuggled illegally by criminal groups.
According to the official, They were transported inside containers and smuggled into Kenya in the pretense they will taken to Dadaab camp, the largest refugee camp in the world. But they were held in a place called “Mingi” in Kenya, added Ahmed.
“Those people were abused, and smuggled illegally through Dobley into Kenya, hoping they will go to Dadaab camp but they were taken to Mingi in Garasia town,” said Ahmed.
Speaking about their conditions, Ahmed said most of them are elders and children, and went through many difficulties and challenges in the route to Kenya, as those criminal groups aiming to profit from them.
Following the collapse of Somalia’s central government in 1991, many Somalis sought refuge in neighboring countries, as Kenya houses nearly above 300,000 people.
