Somalia: Kismayo University rector wants ‘occupying forces’ relocated

KISMAYO, Somalia, September 9, 2015 (Garowe Online)-Kismayo University President pleaded with Somalia government and Jubaland administration to make relocation for allied forces stationed in the main campus in the southern port city of Kismayo, Garowe Online reports.
Speaking on BBC Somali Service, University Rector Abdulkadir Sheikh Mohamed Hikam said, they are operating in dire situation, inside premises exposed to public distraction, and military movement.
Somali National Army (SNA), Jubaland troops and African Union forces have been in the main campus of the university for the last three years.
Hikam added that army posts posed problems to services, and learning process during classes.
Somalia President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and Jubaland leader who opened training for new army recruits have pledged to make interventions needed.
Established in 2005 under assistances from Towfiq Welfare Society (TWS), Kismayo University is one of fast-growing higher education institutions in Somalia.
