MOGADISHU, Somalia Nov 10, 2014 (Garowe Online)-Independent sources in Mogadishu disclose that the latest mediation efforts by the international community members broke down after Federal Government of Somalia’s political leaders refused to ease their stance over the recent cabinet reshuffle, Garowe Online reports.

President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and Prime Minister Abdiweli Sheikh Ahmed Mohamed are said to shown off extreme reluctance to soften their decision, with President Mohamud still declaring PM’s cabinet reshuffle ‘null and void’.

The infighting has dragged to the third week after US special representative James P. McAnulty, UN envoy Nicholas Kay and British Ambassador Neil Wigan failed to find solutions to the standing differences between the two men on Sunday.

Donors warned of deeply embedded crisis in the already war-ravaged horn of African nation, calling on federal government leaders to reach mutually satisfactory compromise.

Political campaigns remain intense in the heavily fortified compound of Villa Somalia as no confidence motion being lodged by Pro-President Mohamud MPs awaits green light.

Parliament Speaker exploiting infighting

According to a decree dated November 9, 2014, President Mohamud, Prime Minister Mohamed and the parliament speaker Jawari put the ongoing Baidoa convention on hold.

Federal Government officials have been asked to come back to Mogadishu for consultations.

Political analysts who asked to remain anonymous tell Garowe Online that Speaker Jawari is taking advantage of the political dispute between the President and the Prime Minister to handpick functionary for southwest state presidency.

Former parliament speaker and his political opponent Sharif Hassan Sheikh Adan is being held up as favorite front-runner.

On Saturday, 370 delegates representing Lower Shabelle, Bay and Bakool regions adopted constitution and cherry-picked former Al Shabaab stronghold, Barawe coastal town as the capital city.
