Militants storm Somalia's Education Ministry in Mogadishu

MOGADISHU, Somalia, April 14, 2015 (Garowe Online)- Explosions and gunfire rang out as militants have stormed the compound housing Somalia  Ministry for Higher Education on Tuesday, Garowe Online reports.

The attack started with a suicide car bombing at the gate of the ministry, followed by armed men who fought their way into the compound which also hosts other ministeries.

Security sources reported a hostage crisis situation inside the ministry after gunmen have taken some of the ministry employees hostage.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack which carries the hallmarks of the Al Qaeda linked Al Shabab group.
