BORAMA, Somalia, October 7, 2015 (Garowe Online)-Militiamen suspected to be commanded by anti-Somaliland traditional leader launched deadly raid on a building housing Awdal Governor Mohamud Ali Saleban, killing two bodyguards and wounding two others, Garowe Online reports.

Sultan Waber, arch-rival of Somaliland’s separatist administration has long waged hit-and-run attacks on Somaliland officials, and allegedly uses hideouts in Eastern Ethiopia.

The militiamen armed with machine guns carried out the assault according to security sources.

Saleban appeared assured after the deadly attack, saying he was not hurt in the pre-planned raid in the capital, Borama.

Somaliland government pointed accusing fingers at Sultan Waber, a unionist figure who seems to be gradually reverting to bloody resistance in a region that escaped Somalia’s worst upheavals over the last two decades.
