Somalia: President Farmajo to meet Donald Trump in Riyadh

MOGADISHU, Somalia- Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo and a delegate he is leading is expected to travel to Saudi Arabia, to attend the Arab-Islamic and U.S. summit in Riyadh, Garowe Online reports.

President Farmaajo's trip to Riyadh came after Saudi King Salman Bin Abdulaziz sent an official invitation to the Federal government to participate in the Islamic-American forum due to be held on Sunday with U.S. President Donald Trump.

Sources told GO that Somali President is expected to meet with Trump on the sidelines of the Summit, to discuss bilateral relations, and the war against the al Qaida-affiliated al-Shabaab group.

Trump’s recent travel immigration ban on citizens from six Muslim majority countries, including Somalia is set to be discussed in the summit that will be attended by over 50 Arab and Islamic leaders.

Saudi King said the leaders at the summit in Riyadh will also discuss on ways to help Somalia to rebuild its institutions, national army and respond to the current humanitarian crises in the country.

This is Farmajo's second visit to Saudi Arabia, and the 9th overseas since Somalia's Federal lawmakers elected him as President of the horn of African nation in last February.
