Somalia: State Minister killed in Mogadishu hotel assault

MOGADISHU, Somalia-Somalia’s State Minister for Environment Buri Mohamed Hamze has been confirmed dead in a terror assault on a Mogadishu hotel frequented by government officials and foreigners, Garowe Online reports. 

Foreign Affairs Minister Abdisalan Omar Hadliye said in a tweet that former State Minister with his ministry, Member of Parliament and Minister of State for Environment has been killed inside Nasa Hablod hotel.  

At least 20 people have been wounded in the apparently coordinated terror attack that marks the latest in a series of hotel attacks in the volatile city.  

Al Shabaab immediately claimed credit for the deadly rampage in Ramadan. Death toll in the terrorist attack was climbing to 20 as of Sunday morning.  

Hamze has fiercely campaigned for environmental protection, earning him advocate role in a country synonymous with proliferating degradation.
